Open Letter to PayPal to STOP supporting HSUS

I saw PayPal’s fundraising campaign started on behalf of HSUS hosted on Facebook to match donations dollar for dollar up to $100,000. I am DISGUSTED! People whose lives revolve around animals are targeted everyday by HSUS. Most animal people who speak out are saying they are closing their PayPal accounts because of this HSUS fundraising campaign. I am hoping you will abandon the side of animal rights and domestic animal abolitionists to come over to the side of animal welfare and animal involvement.

Toronto gets bit by its own anti-dog law, makes amendments

TORONTO, CANADA – Toronto has amended its vicious dog bylaws after its 2005 ban on “pit bulls” has proven to be a failure for controlling vicious dog bites.

In 2005, Ontario passed a law designed to permanently remove pit bulls — and dogs that looked like them — from the province. It required that “pit bull terriers,” American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers must be kept muzzled or leashed in public and sterilized within two months of the bill’s passage.

Pit bulls are cool in Lisbon but vicious in Columbiana, Ohio

LISBON, OH – In an interesting split of municipal law, two cities in Ohio are split by law on whether “pit bulls” are “vicious” because of superceding state law. Lisbon and Columbiana are both in the county of Columbiana, Ohio. The village of Lisbon and the charter city of Columbiana have both defined pit bull dogs as vicious. Under the Columbiana’s current laws, anyone with a pit bull is considered to be harboring a “vicious animal.” The Lisbon law bans pit bulls as vicious.

Paul Upton’s dogs are returning home!

INDIANAPOLIS – It is been more than a year since Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (IACC) seized almost 60 dogs from Paul Upton’s dog training and boarding center, and his home, because of alleged kennel code violations under a revised code and failure to have permanent identification on all of the dogs.

“Until the first dog came through the door, I didn’t know if it was real or not,” said Mr. Upton. “I’ve been a law abiding citizen. The people have prevailed here.”

Life-saving animal research still targeted by animal rights

CHICAGO - The Mason Lab at the University of Chicago just completed a study of helping behavior and empathy with 24 rats. The study showed how rats will help a trapped rat escape and how rats will share with the trapped rat once it is free. “Empathy facilitates social cohesion.

National Dog Show 2016

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia has held dog shows for over 125 years and held its 2016 National Dog Show the weekend of November 19-20. More than 190 AKC registered breeds and varieties were assigned to one of seven groups that represented characteristics and functions the breeds were bred for. Three new breeds were introduced this year and were American Hairless Terrier in the Terrier Group, the Pumi in the Herding Group, and the Sloughi in the Hound Group. Winners in each of the seven groups competed for Best in Show.
